Why would anyone ever want to see a “Main menu” feature for your application?
A recent internal application was developing focused on having a feature for a “Main menu”. It seems to me that somewhere in the process we want people to forget the basic features of an application. “Oh. Just go to the main menu” is what we think when we want to tell someone what to do. It would appear to me that this would be stating “Oh. You need to upload the file in the application, we’ll just go the application and do it.”. That feels useless. What feels useful to me is “To upload the file, do so in the upload section.”. It would be no different than asking a gas station clerk where the local mall is in the town your visiting and they start the sentence by stating “We’ll first you need to get to this town where the mall is located.” . Yeah right! Like this is going to make sense to most people looking for directions. They would think they’ve run into a droid on a TV bloopers show.
